A wet winter wedding at Alcumlow Wedding Barn

Updated: Jan 23, 2020

Scarlett & Ricky's wedding in December was my last one of 2018, and what a day it was to finish on, such a chilled couple, with a tonne of my fave suppliers and ALL the weather thrown in!

Scarlett got ready at her parents home in Nantwich with her girls, before heading out to Astbury Church in Congleton. It's such a stunning building to shoot in, filled with so much light and always looks beautiful dressed for Christmas, with trees either side of the aisle. We we were treated to a 30 second gap in the rain leaving the church which was perfect for guests to throw confetti, before jumping onto a double decker bus and heading over to Alcumlow Wedding Barn.

Alcumlow Wedding Barn features a beautiful traditional dutch barn that has been converted into a stunning rustic wedding venue, giving a relaxed atmosphere with a very vintage feel, decked with thousands of twinkling lights. It had a lovely christmassy feel, which made a fab setting for us to take group photographs indoors due to the torrential rain! As recommended photographer for Alcumlow I love it when I get asked back to work there again, the staff are incredible and the surroundings are just perfect - I can't wait to get back there this year!

Scarlett & Ricky were totally laid back and happy to go with our suggestions on where to head for photographs, and we managed to grab a few minutes of dry weather just before dark to get outside for portraits, braving the cold and wind before heading back inside to get warmed up & continue the celebrations with speeches, drinks and dancing!

'We got married relatively quickly after getting engaged and I was conscious that all of the best photographers were already going to be fully booked for the year. I contacted Sarah on the off-chance that she could fit us in (I was pretty sure she'd already be booked up) and, despite having closed her diary for the year, she squeezed us in as the last wedding of 2018. I honestly cannot say how delighted I am that Sarah was the person to photograph our wedding day: we received the photos last week and were left completely blown away. I must have looked through them 100 times since receiving them! The photos are so natural and capture all the warmth, laughter and fun of the day. All of the special moments are included with the most beautiful eye for detail. Sarah is such a lovely, calming person who made us feel totally at ease: I thought I'd feel awkward knowing I was being photographed all day, but I barely noticed. THANK YOU SARAH- we'll be forever grateful for the photos. xxx'
