A relaxed castle wedding on Lake Garda, Italy

I dont even know where to start with this one! I've been beside myself with excitement in the run up to Laura & David's wedding at Malcesine Castle in Lake Garda and it was everything I'd hoped for! Its somewhere I've always wanted to visit and being able to shoot a beautiful wedding while I was there was a total dream. We met for a pre-wedding/family session at the end of last year and for a chat over their plans for the trip where I learned they'd be married the top of Scaliger Castle overlooking Lake Garda, followed by drinks, ice creams and an afternoon trip out on the lake, on the 1926 sailing boat Siora Veronica.
We travelled out a few days ahead of the wedding for a little break (I don't often get chance for holidays in wedding season so totally made the most of a few quiet days of pizza & aperol in the sun!) which also meant we were able to catch up with Laura & David for a walk through the locations and to meet some of their friends and family who had travelled out for the wedding.

Laura & David both get ready on the morning of the wedding in seperate rooms at the top of the beautiful Hotel Castello which has incredible views out across the lake and of the castle grounds on the edge of the hillside. The rooms are perfect for photographing in - so light and airy! Laura & her dad walked through the steep but pretty cobbled streets of Malcesine to the ceremony on the roof of the castle. Scaliger Castle dates back to the 5th century and boasts 360 degree views of the lake and Monte Baldo - a totally incredible location for a wedding ceremony. Despite some worrying weather during the week the clouds cleared for the ceremony and the weather was amazing for the rest of the day! We headed back through the streets for an ice cream stop before boarding the Siora Veronica for a drinks reception.
After enjoying a beautiful tour of the lake guests made their way back to Hotel Castello for an amazing 5 course dinner, speeches and dancing, and we made the most of the scenery and the weather before the sunshine gave way to torrential rain and insane thunderstorms!
I could hardly narrow down my faves so here are wayyyy too many pics! <3 I'm totally chuffed to have won Bride Magazine's Wedding Image of the Week & a Wedisson award from this gallery too!
