Winter wanders through the river at Dovedale, Ashbourne
Updated: Jan 23, 2020
It's been an exciting week here this week! I think most wedding photographers find the winter months quieter and I've mostly been working on my website, networking and mentoring rather than actually out shooting and I've been itching to get back outdoors with my camera! I'm packing up today for a weekend of weddings at Carden Park & Crewe Hall but did get back outdoors earlier in the week.. (and... I got a message yesterday afternoon to let me know that I've been nominated for a North West Wedding Award from County Brides Magazine which is a bit exciting!!)
When I spoke to Fiona and Dan about their pre-wedding shoot Fiona suggested we could head out to the stepping stones at Dovedale in Ashbourne, which is where they got engaged! It sounded gorge and so I pretty much skipped out of the house on Tuesday morning excited to get stuck back in..
Driving through the Peak District is so so pretty, and the spot we met at is absolutely stunning, I can see why Dan chose it to propose! We walked through the valley while chatting weddings, families and work.. Fiona and I went to school together and we had about 13 years of catching up to do! When we reached the stepping stones over the stream I was glad I'd stuck my emergency wellies on and ended up literally wading across! The water is perfectly clear though and its definitely a spot I could imagine Elsie loving in the summer months.. we walked further along the stream before heading back on the opposite side and warming up with some coffees from the cafe van!
Fiona and Dan are getting married at the stunning Curradine Barns in Worcestershire which is a lovely relaxed barn with a pretty courtyard and beautiful gardens. I can't wait to see it all set up for their big day! Here are my faves from their pre-wedding pics! xx
