A modern white wedding on Lake Windermere, Cumbria

October 21, 2019

There's so much to write about this wedding I don't even know where to start! I'd been counting down the days until Nicola & Mike's big day since their gorgeous pre wedding shoot in Styal at the start of the summer, with do Teddy of course!

We headed up to the lakes on the Friday afternoon before the wedding & kicked off the #WilliamsWindermereWedding with a party boat on Lake Windermere joined by family and friends, complete with a pre-cake cutting - Mr & Mrs Colin Caterpillars obviously! We caught the gorgeous golden end of the evening on the dock, with Mike sprinting back for a last minute kiss before he & Nicola went their separate ways for the night <3

Total side note,my second shooter Hannah and I often stay locally to the wedding venue if it's more than a couple of hours from home and we got some amazing vegan grub from Cafe Italia in the centre of Windermere close to our hotel, totally recommend it - it has loads of outside seating even in the evening, it felt like we were on hols!

Arriving at Merewood House Country Hotel on Saturday morning was just ALL of the excitement!

Merewood Country House is set in an elevated position, against a charming backdrop of natural beauty overlooking Lake Windermere - the breath-taking setting boasts spectacular views from every angle with beautiful gardens and huge light bedrooms that are perfect for photographs. The girls were getting prepped upstairs and the guys dressed in the drawing room before jumping aboard the wedding bus and heading over to the church in Ambleside.

Nicola and Mike chose to get married at St Mary's church in Ambleside, with their dog Teddy as a ring bearer!

After the ceremony, and the most confetti I've ever seen in one go we headed to a spot special to the newlyweds - the private jetty at Langdale Chase Hotel where Mike proposed to Nicola. It was an absolutely stunning setting and so special that we got to go back there for it wedding portraits, before heading back to Merewood for an afternoon of food, surprise singing waiters and speeches that were both hilarious and SO emotional - I know Hannah and I both had a little cry <3

What a bloody awesome couple and amazing guests - we had the best time! I tried to slim down my fave images but what the hey, here's loads! xx
